The Flock Held Down the Fort While We Hit the Beach

We just got back from a week at the beach — our first real stretch away from the farm since this whole thing started. Leaving fourteen ducks in someone else's hands for that long is not a small thing to us, so before anything else in this post: thank you, Nicole, Jess and Adam, Caitlin, Kateri and Rebecalyn . You fed everyone, kept the coop locked up tight every night, and sent us enough photos that we only checked our phones about forty times a day instead of four hundred. We came home to a happy, healthy flock, and that's entirely because of you.

It's a strange kind of trust, handing over the thing you care about most to someone else for a week. It went perfectly, and we're not sure we have the words for how much that means.

Our first real egg sales

While all that was happening, we also crossed a milestone we've been working toward since day one: our first real egg sales to someone outside the family. It's a small number of dozens in the grand scheme of things, but it's the first proof that this is turning into an actual business and not just a very elaborate hobby. If you've been following along on the DuckLab, you already know we've been chasing this one for a while — it's officially checked off the board.

More sales conversations are already in motion, and we'll keep sharing updates here as production ramps up.

New merch on the shelf (well, the Sticker Mule shelf)

We also used some of the downtime to finally launch several new products on our Sticker Mule storefront — new designs pulled straight from the flock, ready to slap on a water bottle, laptop, or truck bumper. If you've wanted to rep the Duckery, now's a good time to go take a look.

Between the sitters, the sales, and the new merch, it turned out to be one of the biggest weeks this farm has had — even though we spent most of it two hours away with our feet in the sand. Good vibes all around.
